Déconstruire la lecture
Limited Capacity seats available

Finding it Lame? Make it a Game!
Limited Capacity filling up

Participants will see examples of engaging and effective games and structures used in grade 7 and 8 math classrooms, including simple scavenger hunts to get students up and moving as they answer questions. An element of competition can transform a worksheet into a BINGO game or a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game into a collaborative, consensus building activity. The presenter will demonstrate how to use a running leaderboard to make recurring activities like Kahoots even more engaging, with prizes awarded to the top finishers after a certain number of repetitions. Participants in the session will engage in a shortened version of each one so they can experience the fun firsthand!

Teaching Using Design Thinking
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

ENGLISH SESSION Design thinking can be used to help students understand and process information from any topic or subject. Design thinking fosters brainstorming and collaboration skills that are valuable in a changing world where many challenges do not have textbook answers. Students can answer complex questions with creativity by designing an object, stories, or resolutions. By teaching design thinking, students learn a method they can use independently to solve problems creatively. For example students might be asked to design a house or a novel candy box. In social studies, students can instructed to design a process for making community, classroom or school decisions more fair. In this workshop, teachers will be introduced to using the design cycle and how to integrate the design process into any lesson and participate in a hands on design challenge.
